Awards Ceremony

The Elmhurst Awards Ceremony, the final event of the academic year, is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate individuals who have excelled, gone above and beyond, or turned a corner with their work, not only proving something to themselves but also inspiring their peers to achieve and succeed.

Each and every one of our students excel throughout the year and for a young person living away from home, whilst dedicating their daily lives to a busy academic and artistic timetable, is no mean feat! The entire staff community at Elmhurst are extremely proud of all of our students and, as we know, their families and friends are too.

Whilst honouring our students, the awards also shine a light on the school’s fit-for-purpose approach to teaching, the skill of Elmhurst staff and the care and attention that allows young people in our care to accomplish and grow.

Awards boost morale and improve motivation across the school. Regardless of being a recipient of an award, nominating an awardee, or being inspired to improve on something next year, all of our students are winners.

This year’s awards included speeches by Jim Harris, Chair of the Board, Brandon Lawrence, Birmingham Royal Ballet Principal dancer and Elmhurst Governor, and Jessica Ward, Principal. MC for the event was Sara Wells, Elmhurst’s Vice Principal and Deputy Safeguarding Lead. The audience – many parents – were treated to student-created footage including a funny, moving and poignant film by our Upper School Class of 2022, celebrating their time at the school. Not a dry eye in the house!

Congratulations to all the award winners under each of our LIVE, LEARN and DANCE activities.

We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate a group of young people – the Lower School Class of 2022, Year 11 – who have made a positive and energetic difference to the school environment, in artistic & academic classes and Boarding for the last five years. As they complete their lower school training and await their GSCE results later this summer, we wish them all well in the next stage of their lives, whether at Elmhurst in the Upper School or other exciting establishments of their choice. Each and every one of them has been a joy to get to know and work with. Their passion and resilience are clear to see and their strength of character will bode them well. It is never goodbye at Elmhurst, so we hope they know our doors will always be open for them.
