It is with very heavy hearts that the entire school community at Elmhurst Ballet School confirm its summer run of shows - including the streamed performance - will not go ahead this year.
As Birmingham is a Covid-19 'enhanced response area' and the shows were scheduled to take place in the Elmhurst theatre within the school complex, it has become increasingly difficult to safely present the performances of Proxemics and Elevate.
After many months of unstoppable activity, online learning due to Government guidelines and school closures, three lockdowns and three returns to some sort of normality, the school’s summer term 2021 must sadly come to an abrupt end.
To present two programmes of dance at the end of an academic year whilst still navigating Elmhurst through a pandemic is no mean feat, and although the school is unable to showcase the talents of its final year students of Elmhurst Ballet Company and the young dancers of its Lower and Upper School, it is determined to find ways to present the new and exciting works in the near future.
Elmhurst Ballet School would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has sent messages of support over the last few days.
