Part-time (Saturday's)

Term- time only

£39.02 per hour

Elmhurst Ballet School are seeking to appoint a Classical Ballet teacher to teach classical ballet classes, male and/or female students across year groups 4-6 and 7-11.  The role is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role is a part-time hourly paid contract and would suit a ballet teacher who has qualified teaching experience.

About Us

Elmhurst Ballet School is a highly successful vocational ballet boarding school associated with Birmingham Royal Ballet and is based one mile from the city centre in Edgbaston. Our Young Dancers Programme (pupils of school years 4 – 6) and our Extended Young Dancers Programme (pupils of school years 7-12) runs on a Saturday in Birmingham. Designed to ensure students are audition-ready for their next steps to becoming professional ballet dancer or entering the wider dance profession.

We seek a Director of Finance and Operations to help shape the next chapter of our story, delivering Elmhurst’s vision in a challenging financial climate. They will lead on financial strategy, operational excellence, compliance and innovation to ensure our school is sustainable, safe and future-ready.


In this pivotal role, you will: 

  • Partner with the Principal to deliver Elmhurst’s vision.
  • Attend and report to the Board and its subcommittees, contributing to strategic governance and decision-making.
  • Deliver operational excellence and be alert for income generation opportunities.
  • Be a visible and valued part of our close-knit community, engaging directly with students through initiatives like the Food Sub-Council and supporting families through bursary processes.
  • See the tangible impact of your work, creating a home-from-home for boarding students, enabling joyful, healthy lives through well-run operations and being part of a platform that launches many young dancers’ careers.
  • Bring ideas, rigour, an eye for detail and a collaborative spirit to a school that is both magical and ambitious.


We’re looking for someone who is commercially astute, values-driven and comfortable moving between strategic and operational work. They must be a qualified accountant with a track record of effective line
management and strategic leadership of finance and operations. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and want to contribute to something truly special, we’d love to hear from you.
