Piano en Pointe 2026!

Thursday April 23rd 2026

Piano en Pointe returns to the stage for an evening of music and dance!

Following the success of last year’s sold-out performance, Elmhurst Ballet School is delighted to announce the return of Piano En Pointe, taking place at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on Thursday 30 April at 7.00pm.

Set in the Conservatoire’s Recital Hall, the performance will showcase Elmhurst’s talented Year 12 students in a vibrant programme of classical ballet excerpts. Audiences can expect highlights from beloved works including Swan Lake, Spartacus and La Bayadère, interwoven with musical interludes performed by piano students from the Conservatoire. The repertoire will feature compositions by renowned composers such as Frédéric Chopin, Cécile Chaminade and Robert Schumann.

Accompanying Elmhurst’s dancers will be Sarah Potjewijd, a former Conservatoire student and now a full-time accompanist at Elmhurst. Her involvement reflects the strong and evolving partnership between the two institutions.

Elmhurst Ballet School has been working in collaboration with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire since 2018 through its Ballet Pianist Placement Scheme. This initiative has fostered a unique creative exchange, culminating in performances such as Piano En Pointe, which celebrate the combined artistry of young dancers and musicians.

Building on the momentum of last year’s acclaimed event, this new programme promises another inspiring evening, offering students the opportunity to perform in a professional setting and to reach a wider audience.

The performance will run for approximately one hour and 45 minutes, including an interval.
