We often talk about the ‘Elmhurst Family’, and we are delighted that our students think of the Elmhurst staff and fellow students as their extended family when they are away from home. One of the highlights of every year, however, is opening the Elmhurst doors to our students’ families for our annual Family Day.
This year on Friday 4 October, parents, family members, and guardians came to watch our students take a ballet class and have a tour of the school. This was a unique opportunity for the whole family to come along and see Elmhurst during a regular school day. It was a great pleasure to meet so many families and we loved welcoming everyone through our doors and into our dance studios. We hope that all the families who were able to come enjoyed their time in school watching the students dance and gleaning an insight into their daily routine during an ordinary Friday at Elmhurst.
Our friends at Birmingham Royal Ballet also invited Elmhurst families to join them at Birmingham Hippodrome that evening for a special pre-show reception, a free pre-performance talk, and discounted tickets for Luna, the final instalment of Carlos Acosta’s Birmingham trilogy. At the pre-performance talk, former Elmhurst student Hannah Martin spoke with passionate and deep knowledge about her role in Luna.
