Elmhurst Experience Day 2026
We welcomed aspiring dancers and their families to our Edgbaston home on Sunday 11 October for a special Experience Day, offering an insight into life at Elmhurst.
The popular event gave prospective students, parents, guardians and teachers the opportunity to discover our specialist ballet training, explore our facilities and learn more about the journey towards auditioning for a place at our school.
Choosing the right school is a significant milestone for any young dancer. With many of our students living on site and beginning their vocational training at a young age, we recognise the importance of helping families feel informed, reassured and confident about taking this next step.
Our Experience Day was designed to give visitors a genuine feel for life at Elmhurst, highlighting not only the specialist training we offer but also the supportive environment in which our students live, learn and develop as young artists.
The day began with an audition experience class led by members of our talented artistic team. Over two hours, aspiring dancers experienced a typical audition class, receiving practical guidance, helpful tips and advice on how to prepare for the audition process. The session also included an introduction to our renowned Strength and Conditioning programme, which plays an important role in supporting our students’ physical development and dance training.
Following a short break, guests gathered in our theatre for an Audition Process Presentation, where our staff and current students shared insights into the application process and life at Elmhurst. The event concluded with guided tours of our school, giving students and their families the chance to explore our facilities and see where our students live, dance, and learn.
For many families, attending a vocational or boarding school is a new experience. Events such as these provide a valuable opportunity to ask questions, understand the support available and experience the close-knit community that makes Elmhurst special.
Many young dancers who have attended our Experience Days in previous years have gone on to audition successfully and become part of the Elmhurst family.
Applications for our Full-Time Training Programmes are officially open. You can find out more and apply here
