Join us for an inspiring and immersive morning of dance at Elmhurst Ballet School as this year’s Spring Masterclass celebrates the enduring artistry and influence of August Bournonville.
Renowned for his joyful musicality, intricate footwork and expressive storytelling, Bournonville’s work continues to shape classical ballet training today.
Open to dancers aged 10 –16, the Masterclass will include a classical ballet class alongside the opportunity to learn and explore iconic Bournonville repertoire, all under the guidance of Elmhurst’s highly experienced faculty. Dancers will be encouraged to develop their technique, artistry and performance quality in a supportive and inspiring studio environment.
We are delighted to welcome Birmingham Royal Ballet Principal Dancer, Celine Gittens, who will join the day as a guest artist delivering repertoire and sharing her professional experience and insight.
The morning will conclude with a presentation and Q&A session, offering dancers a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand understanding of life in the professional dance world and the pathways into vocational training.

Elmhurst Ballet Company, the graduate year of Elmhurst Ballet School, presents Odyssey - a striking mixed programme of classical and contemporary dance. The young company has collaborated with established choreographers, dance artists and organisations to bring this ambitious production to the stage.
The programme showcases a diverse repertoire, including excerpts from two ballets by renowned Danish choreographer and ballet master August Bournonville: the vibrant Napoli and the elegant Le Conservatoire. Alongside these classical works is Ascension, a new jazz piece by award-winning choreographer and international dance teacher Dane Bates, and Ek.sta.sis, created by Miguel Altunaga for this group of students and premiered in July 2025.
In Odyssey, audiences are invited on a journey through stories both old and new, celebrating the artistic growth of each Elmhurst Ballet Company dancer as they transition from student to professional artist. Each work marks a step in their creative evolution, capturing moments of discovery, courage, reflection and transformation.
